Lucky to Be Alive
This is for all of you who just look at the "static electricity" messages at gas stations without taking them in. Jeff had an experience this morning that could have easily turned into a terrible tragedy. Apparently because of the way automobile tires are now manufactured, static electricity is a VERY REAL danger at the gas pump. See this video. From PERSONAL experience we can testify that this CAN and DOES happen. Be careful out there!

That makes me scared to even pump gas let alone take my kids with me.
I read about the dangers of static electricity while pumping gas years ago, so when I started driving and having to pump gas, I was sure to be cautious about it. I never re-open the car door while pumping the gas, and I always touch the car when I first get out so as to discharge any static electricity I built up while driving. I guess sometimes it's good to be neurotic. ;)
Wow!!! Thanks for sharing! Is everybody there ok?
Linda - first West Nile virus & now this - you keep making these distant fears reality! Scary - glad Jeff is OK. I am w/ becca - I think I'll try to get gas w/o my kids as often as possible.
