I Am Afraid...Very Afraid...*

Okay, let's face it. I am not very techno-savvy.

In fact, you could say I am techno-challenged.

And yet, when my friends keep asking me if I am on FaceBook, I feel a certain peer pressure.

So, months ago I created a FB account. Only thing is, I don't know how to use it or what to do with it. I barely have time to blog once in a while.

But when my friend Sylvia, who only lives here part time now, asked me today if I was on FB so we could keep in touch, I decided to try it again. Only when Amy reminded me how to get on it and showed me what to do with it, all these "friend" suggestions popped up. And the more I clicked on them to "request" them as friends, more and more of them kept coming.

It just won't stop. I'm afraid. Very, very afraid.

*Do you not agree that a person must be very, very self-confident (or totally shameless) to post photos like this of herself where ANYone can see them??? Don't have to go private to protect THESE babies!!!! (And, yes, my laser surgery is still working. I just picked the ugliest reading glasses I could find to make these photos funnier...)

Christmas in June

Somehow in my blog wanderings one day, I found this fun, free block of the month pattern here.

I have finished the first two blocks.

I like doing them because they are quick and easy and working on them makes me feel justified (read: less guilty...) if I watch a movie in the evening with Jeff or the girls.

I'm not sure if I'll make little pillows, or make the wall hanging with all of them together.

It's just a little thing to look forward to on the seventh of each month...

In other news, Kelly, Leisel, Jill, and Jessica will be happy to know that I have completed #1 of my four "Pay it Forward" s. I have actually had it done except for one thirty second step since April Conference, BUT I am super-slow. So...Kelly, be watching the mail for your "something handmade from Linda!" Once she gets it, I'll post a picture, since no one is getting the same thing... I know I'm slow, but I do LOVE you ladies and you will get your gifts before the year is over!

Ally is Growing Up

For years she was Little Ally.

Some people still call her that.

But, as you can see, my second granddaughter is getting more beautiful and grown up every day.

She turns 11 today and will be at the junior high with Maddie and Julie when school starts.
(This is her sixth grade picture, posted later.)

The little cousins adore her.

So do I.

I am a very blessed woman.

Any Day Spent Sewing...

...is a good day.

Just ask my friend, Jill. I was lucky enough to get her gift in our Pine Valley/Fairview gift exchange last month. She made me this cute summery table runner, featuring darling picnic-y fabrics.

We decided it would be perfect for my grandchildren to party and picnic on! (Yeah. Right after I drape it with PLASTIC!)

She also sewed this darling pincushion. I have long wanted a cute pincushion and now I can "have my cake and eat it too!" (Or not!) It has a cute card on it that says "any day spent sewing is a good day." And she made an additional tag that says "I cannot count my day complete 'til needle, thread and fabric meet." I wish I could sew every day!

Thanks, Jill, for making me so happy!

Homemade Laundry Soap

April wants the recipe for homemade soap.

This is the one I used. It works great. No suds and it's kind of thin and slimy-ish, but cleans really well and smells fresh.

My friend Leisel makes the soap in 5 gallon batches. She adds a small bottle of liquid Tide to change the scent and texture and so it will make suds. This keeps her husband happy. I say any husband who will do laundry deserves happiness. She also adds a cup of OxiClean for super stain-removal. Totally optional.

Mine was plain and worked great. My husband doesn't do laundry. As a general rule.

Thanks, Leisel, for sharing your soap-making talents of all kinds with us.
